We believe in the power of the arts to open minds, foster empathy, spark creativity, and encourage critical thinking. Art builds bridges between people and ideas—but to truly benefit from its positive impact, a few essential conditions must be met:
– Broad and diverse exposure to creative experiences
– A cultural environment where both creating and engaging with art are normalized
– Thoughtful, guided exploration of artistic expression through professional insight.
We must not underestimate the power of children and young people to create positive change in society.CULMEA aims to provide a space for learning, dialogue, and imagination around the climate crisis—using film as both a tool and a window to the world.
We aim to help build a community of children, young people, and their support networks—families, relatives, and friends—who are better informed about the climate crisis and better equipped with the knowledge and tools needed for a responsible, sustainable way of life.
Three out of four children in Romania (71%) are interested in environmental issues, and 65% believe they can influence politicians to help prevent and reduce climate and environmental problems (according to the 2021 Born into the Climate Crisis study by Save the Children).Film is one of the most powerful ways to tell stories, spark debate, and nurture empathy and critical thinking.
A film festival dedicated to children, young people, and environmental education will provide the space for learning and conversation that this generation urgently needs.
